The company operates through three segments: the Office Business Unit, the Consumer Business Unit, and the Industry and Others Business Unit. The Office Business Unit manufactures, markets, and services a range of monochrome network digital MFDs, color network digital MFDs, office copying machines, personal-use network digital MFDs, office copying machines, full-color copying machines, personal-use copying machines, laser printers, large format inkjet printers, and digital production printers. The Consumer Business Unit manufactures and markets digital SLR cameras, compact digital cameras, interchangeable lenses, digital video camcorders, inkjet multifunction peripherals, single function inkjet printers, image scanners, broadcasting equipment, and various other camera accessories. The Industry and Others Business Unit offers semiconductor lithography equipment- mirror projection LCD lithography equipment- medical image recording equipment- ophthalmic products- magnetic heads for audio and video tape recorders- micro-motors for printers and other components- components, computer information systems, document scanners, and personal information products, as well as personal computers, servers, calculators, and micrographic equipment. Canon, Inc. also provides maintenance services to its copying machines, as well as supplies replacement drums, parts, chemicals, and paper. The company sells its products through dealers, distributors, and retail outlets, as well as directly to end users. Canon, Inc. was founded in 1937 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
