The Real Estate segment operations consist of development and rental of commercial real estate and office buildings- development and sale of condominiums- operation of hotel, golf course, and training facility- senior housing development and management- REIT asset management- real estate investment and advisory services- and real estate finance. The Investment Banking segment engages in loan servicing, principal investment, merger and acquisition advisory, venture capital, and securities brokerage businesses. The Retail segment involves in life insurance operations- and banking and the card loan businesses. The Overseas Business segment operations comprise leasing, lending, investment in bonds, investment banking, real estate-related operations, and ship- and aircraft-related operations in the United States, Asia, Oceania, and Europe. The company was formerly known as Orient Leasing Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Orix Corporation in 1989 to reflect its diversification into financial services other than leasing. Orix Corporation was founded in 1964 and is based in Tokyo, Japan.
