Kemper Corporation, a diversified insurance holding company, provides various insurance products and services in the United States. The company offers automobile, homeowners, life, health, and other insurance products for individuals and small businesses. It also provides property and casualty insurance to individuals, and commercial automobile insurance to businesses- nonstandard personal and commercial automobile insurance- sells preferred and standard risk automobile and homeowners insurance- and markets automobile and homeowners insurance primarily through direct mail and Web insurance portals. In addition, the company writes personal automobile insurance risks ranging from preferred to non-standard private passenger automobile insurance risks- and offers homeowners and renters insurance. Kemper Corporation distributes its products through independent agents, and employer-sponsored voluntary benefit programs and other affinity relationships, as well as directly to consumers. The company was formerly known as Unitrin, Inc. and changed its name to Kemper Corporation in August 2011. Kemper Corporation was founded in 1990 and is based in Chicago, Illinois.
