FreightCar America, Inc. designs and manufactures aluminum-bodied and steel-bodied railcars in North America. It builds coal cars, bulk commodity cars, flat cars, mill gondola cars, intermodal cars, coil steel cars, and motor vehicle carriers for transporting various products. The company also refurbishes and rebuilds railcars- and sells forged, cast, and fabricated parts for railcars it produces, as well as those manufactured by others. In addition, it provides railcar maintenance and repair, inspection, and fleet management services for various types of freight-carrying railcars, as well as leases freight cars. The company's customers primarily include railroads, shippers, and financial institutions. FreightCar America, Inc. was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
