As of September 30, 2010, Ruddick Corporation operated 199 supermarkets, which include 134 in North Carolina 134, 35 in Virginia, 13 in South Carolina, 5 in Maryland, 5 in Tennessee, 3 in Delaware, 2 in the District of Columbia, 1 in Florida, and 1 in Georgia. It also operates in Canada, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, England, Honduras, Hong Kong, Italy, Mexico, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Poland, South Africa, and Slovenia. The company was founded in 1891 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
